چکیده

A Process Query System (PQS) has the capability of filtering large volumes of real time data originating from a field of networked Physical Sensors. Modern air quality monitoring techniques such as Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectroscopy will eventually provide massively distributed real time contamination data at high fidelity. As large networks of these sensors are deployed, improved techniques of data retrieval and assimilation will be required. The case of detecting a diffusion event such as a hazardous chemical plume is considered. In this scenario, a plume model based on an Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF)is submitted to the PQS which manages multiple hypotheses explaining the current observations. The feasibility of such an application is demonstrated and results from preliminary simulations are presented.

Airborne Plume Tracking With Sensor Networks

This paper presents a framework and demonstrates results from a process detection based approach to tracking an airborne plume in sensor networks. Data integration and pattern detection in large sensor networks measuring gas and radiation plumes suffer from low resolution observations, missed detections, and numerous false positive reports. Large numbers of nodes and the hypothesis management c...

Survey: Detection, Recognition and Source Localization of Odor

This study aims to provide a review for odor detection, recognition and source localization and ongoing approaches taken to address the problem. To this aim sensor structures and chemical detection process are introduced. Next, recognition techniques of odor from detected chemicals are explained. To introduce source localization problem, the odor dynamics is introduced and models of odor diffus...

Semiautomatic Image Retrieval Using the High Level Semantic Labels

Content-based image retrieval and text-based image retrieval are two fundamental approaches in the field of image retrieval. The challenges related to each of these approaches, guide the researchers to use combining approaches and semi-automatic retrieval using the user interaction in the retrieval cycle. Hence, in this paper, an image retrieval system is introduced that provided two kind of qu...

A New Method for Duplicate Detection Using Hierarchical Clustering of Records

Accuracy and validity of data are prerequisites of appropriate operations of any software system. Always there is possibility of occurring errors in data due to human and system faults. One of these errors is existence of duplicate records in data sources. Duplicate records refer to the same real world entity. There must be one of them in a data source, but for some reasons like aggregation of ...

Fingerprint Analysis of Contaminant Data: A Forensic Tool for Evaluating Environmental Contamination

Several studies have been conducted on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to identify detection monitoring parameters for specific industries. One outcome of these studies was the evolution of an empirical multi-variant contaminant fingerprinting process. This process, Fingerprint Analysis of Leachate Contaminants (FALCON), was developed through the EPA’s Technical Support...
